FH - Devils Unable to Hold Onto Early Lead Against #10 Diplomats

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dickinson field hockey team built up an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Gillian Rosenstock and Nicole Uebele, but it would not be enough as the 10th-ranked Franklin and Marshall College rallied back to pick up a 3-2 win at the Biddle Field Complex on Homecoming.

First Quarter
  • The visitors were on the attack within the first minute as a corner played in by Megan Dadio came to the top of the circle for Caitlin Hoover who blasted wide of Arden Cook's cage.
  • Two minutes later Dickinson recorded their first attempt with Alex Hackett bouncing it wide of Meghan Dole.
  • However, the Red and White were rewarded in the seventh minute as Nicole Uebele controlled a ball in the circle and sent a shot past Dole for the 1-0 lead.
  • The advantage became 2-0 with 7:48 gone as Gillian Rosenstock inserted a corner to Uebele at the top of the circle who sent the ball right back to Rosenstock who deflected it into the cage.
  • F&M tallied the final four shots of the frame, but none of them got to Cook.
Second Quarter
  • The early part of the period belonged to the Diplomats as they earned four corners leading to six shots resulting in four saves by Cook against Molly Donadoni, Hannah Fitzgerald, Ava Lofgren and Hoover.
  • Dickinson finally got some offensive push later in the frame with three Rosenstock corners leading to offerings from Raegan Carty and Uebele that could not solve Dole.
  • With things primed to go to the break with the Devils up by a pair back-to-back corners inside the final 20 seconds led to Caroline Kuehner forcing one across the line as the horn sounded to make it 2-1.
Third Quarter
  • The Diplomats continued to apply the pressure and ultimately drew even at 2-2 with 5:46 gone when a corner from Dadio found Hoover for the tally. They would then take their first lead of the day five minutes later when Bella Konchar scored after a penalty stroke was awarded.
  • Inside the final minute Dickinson had a chance to level things up, but Dole was able to deny Uebele keeping it at 3-2 entering the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
  • Just over a minute in Rosenstock sent a corner to Uebele who unleashed a shot that went by Dole. Unfortunately, the post was there to bail out the Diplomats keeper.
  • Two minutes later, Hoover had a pair of chances to increase the advantage, but none of the tested Cook.
  • F&M added the final five shots of the match forcing two more stops out of Cook to end the game.
