VB - Devils Complete Perfect Week by Caging Bears

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team completed a perfect 3-0 week on Saturday afternoon by beating Ursinus College 3-0 in Centennial Conference action at Helfferich Hall for their third win in five days. Mallie Thomas led the way for the Red and White with 15 kills, while Jessica Currie and Kylie Schner combined for 15.

First Set
  •  It was all Devils to get things going as kills for Emery Fishbach, Currie, Schner and Thomas made it 10-2.
  • The trio of Marissa Ortiz, Madison Small and Molly Stevenson trimmed it down to 12-7, before two Thomas kills and a block for Caroline Cusson helped to hold the margin at five (16-11).
  • Small provided a spark for the Bears (19-16), but Lora Flynn, Currie, Cusson, Fishbach and Schner all recorded points to finish off the 25-19 win.
Second Set
  • Once again Dickinson began fast with scores from Fishbach and Thomas giving the Red and White a 9-4 edge.
  • Kills by Alonna McCummings, Small and Stevenson helped the hosts get within 13-10.
  • The sides then traded the ensuing ten points with DC kills coming from Avery Butcher, Norah Oppenheim, Schner and Thomas (18-15).
  • Following a solo block for Fishbach contributions from Brenna Williams and Schner capped off the frame 25-18.
Third Set
  • This time it was the Bears who tried to ride the momentum of a quick start as the duo of Small and Stevenson had them in front 7-4.
  • Powerful strikes by Cusson, Thomas and Williams knotted the score at 7-7.
  • Dickinson continued to fight with Amanda Palo, Currie, Fishbach, Oppenheim, Schner and Thomas tallying points to keep it locked 14-14.
  • After a kill for Small, Currie and Thomas posted six straight to open up a 20-15 lead.
  • Stevenson single-handedly pulled the hosts back to within 22-21, but an error, Oppenheim ace and Thomas kill wrapped up the match (25-21).
