SAN JUAN, P.R. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse used four goals each from
Grace Kelly and
Heidi Schmidt to secure the second win of their spring break trip on Thursday morning knocking off Saint Joseph's College of Maine by a score of 14-3 at the Albergue Olympic Training Center.
First Quarter
- Dickinson was off and running early as just 39 seconds in Eva Gardner put one by Julia Price. It became 2-0 a little over a minute later when Brynna O'Brien took the ball from Ella Highbarger leading to Quinn Foa setting up Kelly for her first.
- The Red and White continued to push the Monks back with Price shutting down the duo of Kelly and Schmidt, before Schmidt connected with Kelly for a 3-0 edge just over five minutes in.
- Gardner along with Kelly would bury free-position chances making it 5-0 still with three minutes to play.
- St. Joe's finally recorded their first shot of the game in the last minute as Sophia Burton sent one wide, which allowed Schmidt to add one more (6-0).
Second Quarter
- The first two attempts of the frame rippled the cage as well thanks to Schmidt and Crawford Fisher (Abby Geary assist) stretching the advantage to 8-0 with 4:06 gone.
- Then, the Monks found some rhythm striking twice through Celia Melanson and Taylor Dumond.
- A turnover caused by Mallory Cavanagh resulted in offerings from Meghan McDonald, Gardner and Schmidt leading to three saves for Price sending the game to halftime.
Third Quarter
- For the second consecutive game Lydia Mossi took over between the pipes for O'Brien.Â
- St. Joe's would tally two of the first three shots, but neither tested Mossi. At the other end of the field Price was called upon by Geary to keep the score at 8-2Â with five minutes gone.
- Following a foul inside the attack area against Annabella Venna, Kelly stepped up and ripped a free-position shot past Price (9-2).
- With the Monks in possession, Mia Snellenburg poked the ball away from Melanson leading to Quinn Foa feeding Kelly who then linked up with Maisy Lewerenz for the Devils tenth.
- Mossi would keep the opposition at just two heading into the fourth by recording two stops, while Geary tacked on another one (11-2).
