CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse returned to Biddle Field on Saturday afternoon in search once again for their first Centennial Conference win of the season as they welcomed the Bears of Ursinus College to Carlisle on Senior Day. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the visitors used an incredibly stingy defense to post a 9-5 victory.
First Quarter
- Dickinson had the early pressure with shots coming from Crawford Fisher, Abby Geary and Heidi Schmidt. However, Addi Guthrie-Pimpinella notched two stops to keep it scoreless.
- After, Peyton VanDorpe had the answer for Skyler Bogdan it would be Ashley Noto who opened the scoring at the 8:44 mark.
- The visitors extended the gap to 2-0 through Gabrielle Eaise, but then following a draw win for Schuyler Cerow, Sage Whiteside struck unassisted to end the frame.
Second Quarter
- An early giveaway by DC caused by Sophia Curtis allowed Meghan Vizian to push the margin back to two (3-1) with 1:52 gone.
- Over the ensuing couple of minutes each keeper was called upon with Guthrie-Pimpinella denying Eva Gardner, while VanDorpe turned aside both Devin Buggy and Noto.
- The last four minutes saw three yellow cards issued and the Bears add one more to their total thanks to Whitney Hershey for a 4-1 halftime edge.
Third Quarter
- Dickinson was unable to record a shot during the first three minutes, while at the other end of the field the trio of McKenna Keefer, Mia Snellenburg and Cerow each forced a turnover keeping the gap at three.
- Gardner provided a shot with ten minutes left that was stopped by the keeper, but Gardner then setup Schmidt for the finish cutting it down to 4-2.
- However, only 34-seconds later Jaime Michaud cashed in past VanDorpe to bump the margin back to three 5-2.
- Each goalie posted two more stops in the frame to send things to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- The Bears made the first shot of the period count with Hershey making 6-2, before Geary linked up with Schmidt to pull one back for the Devils.
- Guthrie-Pimpinella then provided the energy for UC shutting down the duo of Carson Cerow and Geary which allowed Vizian the ability to advance the lead to 7-3 with 8:02 remaining.
- Dana DeSiato then followed with a strike off the ensuing the draw. Guthrie-Pimpinella continued to be the story for the Bears notching two more stops, before Fisher found the back of the net at the 13:22 mark.
