SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The 14th-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team secured their second Centennial Conference win of the week by besting the host Swarthmore College 10-7 at Clothier Field on Saturday afternoon. The Red and White were led by a strong defensive group performance as seven different players forced a turnover in the game.
First Quarter
Second Quarter
- Ethan Ackerman caused an early giveaway by knocking it free from Owen Hoffman which led to chances for Baughan and Stark, but Tyson was there once again.
- Will McDonald supplied some more defensive grit by causing another turnover allowing Ramsey Huggins to rip a shot wide.
- After both Clay Almgren and Hoffman hit the pipe, Jamie Book collected the loose ball and found Boyd for the finish making it 3-1 inside of eight minutes left.
- Dickinson made it 4-1 just over a minute later when Boyd setup Monroe for a man-up strike. Tyson tried to prevent DC from grabbing another by denying Stark twice. However, Childs did eventually cash in at the 11:33 mark of a nice feed from Mulhern.
- Maston picked up one more with one second to play trimming the gap to 5-2 at halftime.
Third Quarter
- Both goalies were tested with Bognet and Tyson shutting down Maston and Marusa respectively within the first two minutes.
- A giveaway caused by Huggins led to four shots by Marusa that didn't get to the keeper, before Caleb Oliver was stopped by Tyson to hold the score at 5-2.
- Another save for Bognet this time against Nolan Ohrman, set the stage for tallies from Marusa (Monroe assist) and Huggins (Marusa assist) to stretch the Devils advantage to 7-2 with nine minutes left.
- It was then Swarthmore's turn to turn defense into offense as a stop for Tyson sent Rex Mabbs ahead and he found Dylan Ah Now for a goal (7-3).
- Hoffman then rippled the twine to make it 7-4, but a turnover forced by Ethan Ferrant led to Huggins cashing in again for the 8-4 edge entering the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
- Sam Bunten caused a turnover in the second minute which led to Childs striking unassisted taking the lead to 9-4.
- Swarthmore would take advantage of winning the ensuing faceoff as Maston buried the rock with five minutes gone.
- Two more Tyson stops tried to keep the momentum with the Garnet, but Baughan linked up with Huggins to make it 10-5 at the eight minute mark.
- The home side added two more late, but it was not enough as the Red and White locked up the 10-7 win.
