Inside the Game
- After Bien put up a quiet top of the first, Dylan Posencheg opened the game with a single against conference pitcher of the week Michael Yousef. He then swiped both second and third with two away to bring up Kyle Bailey. He gave DC a 1-0 edge with a double, before Luke Gartland smoked a two-bagger to center making it 2-0. Miguel Reich then singled, before Freeman Hunt flew out to end the frame
- Bien once again kept the Jays off the board during the second to give DC a chance to add onto their advantage in the home-half. Ben Milligan singled, Matt Conforti was hit and Will Ferris drew a free pass to fill the bags with one gone for Johnny Bruno. He would deliver two more runs with a knock to the outfield. Bailey then followed with an RBI single and Reich produced the sixth run of the day with a fielder's choice to take a 6-0 lead into the third.
- Bien used another "one-two-three" frame to prevent the Jays from getting the offense going as he continued his shutout into the last of the third. Where a double for Conforti and single by Posencheg led to a fielder's choice for Ferris making it 7-0.
- Dickinson maintained that lead into the top of the sixth when back-to-back singles gave Hopkins something to work with. A groundout moved the two into scoring position, before a sac fly from William Jaun and single by Lukas Geer brought the gap to 7-2 entering the eighth.
- An error and double from Geer allowed Hopkins to trim one more off the gap. However, Dickinson had an immediate response in the last of the as both Posencheg and Ferris were hit by pitches, before Bruno was intentionally walked to fill the cushions. The game was then halted for a little over an hour due to lightning in the area. Coming out of the break Bailey drew a walk to force home one, but Gartland bounced into a double play to thwart the rally.Â
- Will Marziarz went to the hill for Bien to begin the ninth and ran into some issues giving up three walks and a pair of singles to cut the deficit down to 8-5 still with bases loaded and no outs. Drew Norton was then brought in to try and secure the save. He conceded a sac fly to make it 8-6, before fly outs by Jaun and Keiffer Ary ended the game.
