GRANTHAM, Pa. - Sophomore
Gillian Rosenstock netted a pair of goals including one with just 42-seconds left in regulation to push the ninth-ranked Dickinson field hockey team into overtime against the 22nd-ranked Messiah University on Tuesday night at Anderson Field. Unfortunately, for the Red and White, Chelsea Carlisle posted the winner only ten-seconds into the extra session to lift the Falcons to a 3-2 non-conference win.
First Quarter
- Rookie keeper Arden Cook was called into action early as she turned away Aubrey Clark just 26-seconds into the game.
- Ellie Lefever recorded the next shot with 5:09 off the clock, but it did not test Cook.
- Both goalies were tasked with making a save prior to the horn as Megan McClure was denied by Anna Haberle and Cook had the answer for Alyssa Lewis.
Second Quarter
- Messiah came out firing away as Addie Weiler and Lefever forced one stop out of Cook in the opening two minutes.
- However, a minute later Lewis would find the back of the cage making it 1-0.
- A couple of minutes following that Dickinson tallied their only chance of the frame as Raegan Carty skipped one wide.
Third Quarter
- Four minutes into the period Naomi Lyter was stopped by Cook, but the ensuing rebound kicked out to Weiler who buried the shot for a 2-0 edge.
- The Devils found a much needed response during the 36th minute when a corner played in by Rosenstock went to Nicole Uebele who passed back to Rosenstock for the strike (2-1).
- Messiah had the final three corners of the frame, which resulted in one chance for Lefever that was beaten away by Cook.
Fourth Quarter
- The Falcons had the Red and White pinned in for most of the quarter as they tallied the first eight shots, but were not able to best Cook as the first-year kept the visitors in it entering the final few minutes.
- It would take all the way until the 60th minute for Dickinson to find the equalizer as Rosenstock entered the attack area and lifted a shot over the top of Haberle to knot things up at 2-2.
Overtime
- Messiah immediately put the Devils under pressure as two corners led to a shot for Lefever that was denied by Cook. Unfortunately, the ensuing rebound was stuffed home by Carlisle for the 3-2 win.
