BROCKPORT, N.Y. -
Anna Bitsko gave the Dickinson women's soccer team a 1-0 halftime lead on Saturday evening against SUNY Brockport. Unfortunately, though for the Red and White McKenna Slate buried an equalizer inside the final ten minutes to salvage a 1-1 non-conference draw at Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
First Half
- Both keepers were called into action in the first five minutes with Alana Yahoudy being stopped by Pico Gray, while Emily McCane had the answer for Lauren Ervin.
- After an offering from Dinah Gifford was knocked down by the defense, the trio of Joelle Ma, Bridget Merkel and Bitsko each forced a save from McCane.
- Two minutes later Gray preserved the 0-0 scoreline with a denial of Brianna Marino.
- Dickinson posted the final five shots of the frame with McCane making a stop against Mamady Bangoura, while Norah Heacock, Ma and Merkel all missed the target. However, the remaining offering that came from Bitsko off a pass from Bangoura managed to elude McCane for the 1-0 lead.
Second Half
- The Devils kept up the pressure to begin the period with attempts coming from Emma Barrabee, Isabelle Bariso and Bangoura, but none of them got by McCane.
- Following two off target blasts by Ava Prisco, Kaitlyn Spring asked a question of Gray who was up to the task.
- McCane prevented Barrabee from making it 2-0 during the 81st minute.
- Dickinson would go a player up with 82:36 gone as Yahoudy was issued a red card. However, that moment seemed to spark Brockport as 20-seconds later Slate put the ball in the net to tie things up.
