Roy's Goal Edges #6 Devils Past Saints in Lid-Lifter

CARLISLE, Pa. - Charlie Roy picked up the only goal of the match in the 50th-minute with a strike from just inside the 18-yard box and it would be just enough to power the sixth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team past the visiting Marymount University on Tuesday afternoon at Miller Memorial Field in non-conference action.

First Half
  • Nicholas Dwamena tried to get the Devils out to a fast start with a shot just 75-seconds in, but he sailed it over the head of Saints keeper Adam Elonai.
  • Over the next ten minutes it was the visitors who had the pressure recording four shots tasking DC goalie Gavin Marr into making three saves.
  • Dickinson then started to find their footing tallying the ensuing four chances from Darian Crim, Mika Rafidimahavonjy and Maxim Temple, unfortunately none of them bothered Elonai.
  • Five minutes before halftime Marymount had the opportunity to get the lead, but Matthew Guzman-Veizaga was shutdown by Marr.
Second Half
  • For the second straight half Dwamena attempted to find the back of the net early. However, both of his offerings were saved by Elonai.
  • The Red and White did eventually get the breakthrough though as Temple found Roy just inside the box for the shot that eluded Elonai for the 1-0 lead in the 50th.
  • Dickinson continued to go in search of a second, but the quartet of Jeremy Sallade, Henry Schultz, Dwamena and Rafidimahavonjy could not get anything by Elonai.
  • Elonai remained quite busy as he had to make stops against Nicolas Fonseca and Dwamena to preserve the 1-0 deficit.
  • The Saints recorded two of the final three shots in the match as both Danny Cerritos and Franklin Cruz-Reyes missed the mark to allow the Devils to see out the match.
