CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team picked up their second straight non-conference victory on Wednesday night with a 3-1 decision over the visiting Susquehanna University at the Kline Center.
Mallie Thomas paced the Red and White in kills with 17, while the trio of
Katie Arcara,
Avery Butcher and Thomas all recorded ten-plus digs.
First Set
- The Devils got off to a fast start as scores from Jessica Currie, Caroline Cusson, Arcara, Butcher and Thomas made it 11-2.
- A kill by Kylie Schner accounted for one of the DC points during a 7-3 River Hawks push to get within 14-9.
- Cusson and Thomas continued to help the Red and White to hold the guests at-bay 21-16.
- Solo points put down by Currie and Thomas along with a pair of Isabella Sallie errors ended the set 25-17.
Second Set
- This time it was the visitors who jumped out to an early lead with three kills each for Stella Robinson and Sallie giving them an 11-6 advantage.
- Following a service error by Natalia Baca, SU ripped off six straight extending the margin to double-digits (17-7).
- Two Norah Oppenheim scores did little to cut into the deficit as the Hawks maintained a 22-10 edge.
- Points by Butcher, Currie, Cusson and Thomas gave the Devils some life at 23-17. Unfortunately, SU tallied the ensuing two points to take the frame 25-17.
Third Set
- Currie, Oppenheim and Thomas exchanged kills with visiting attackers over the first 20 points as things were locked up at 10-10.
- A pair of Schner aces coupled with kills for Cusson and Thomas opened the advantage up to 17-12.
- The two sides then shared the ensuing six points as Currie and Schner made it 20-15.
- A kill from Addison Dodge cut the deficit to 24-18, before a thunderous Thomas kill off a feed from Brenna Williams capped a 25-18 win.
Fourth Set
- Things were tight early as Emery Fishbach, Currie and Thomas provided kills to tie the score at 8-8.
- Single points for Oppenheim, Schner and Thomas along with three visiting miscues pushed the Devils in front 14-12.
- Susquehanna tried to get back even as Camille Ince and Baca produced kills to get within 18-17.
- Dickinson reclaimed the lead at 21-20 on a kill by Thomas, before back-to-back Robinson points put the River Hawks of the verge of the set 22-21.
- However, two Thomas kills rockets and two SU mistakes ended the match (25-23).
