CARLISLE, Pa. — The Dickinson volleyball team came within two aces of the program record for a three-set match on Tuesday night in a decisive 3-0 win in just under an hour over the visiting Alvernia University Golden Wolves inside the Kline Center.
First Set
- The Devils and Wolves were even at 3-3 after the first six points when the Red and White went on a 7-0 scoring run that featured an ace from Amanda Palo, the first of many for the home team, and two kills by Lora Flynn.
- Alvernia would get as close as a 16-13 deficit before the Devils went on another run, this one 6-0, led by two kills from Jessica Currie and two aces from Mallie Thomas.
- A kill from Caroline Cusson would close the first set for the Red Devils by a score of 25-17.
Second Set
- The Devils scored the first nine points behind two aces from Brenna Williams and two kills apiece from Thomas and Emery Fishbach.
- The lead would grow to 17-3 behind a kill by Currie, two from Kylie Schner, and an ace from Avery Butcher.
- The Red and White would score five of the final five points including one ace each from Williams and Lilith Roman to take the second set by a score of 25-7.
Third Set
- For the second straight set Dickinson began strong with two more aces for Williams and kills by the trio of Iona Nelson, Schner and Thomas making it 9-2.
- Following an ace by Olivia Jones to trim the gap to 9-4, two aces each from Palo, Roman and Schner coupled with scores for Cusson, Fishbach, Flynn and Thomas amounted to a 16-2 charge capping off the match at 25-6.
