| (Carlisle, Pa.)- The Dickinson
College women's volleyball team captured the first two sets before
falling to visiting Franklin & Marshall, 3-2, on Wednesday
night. |
The Red Devils stormed out to a 2-0 lead, winning the first two
sets, 25-21 and 25-22. Senior Kristen Lee (Los
Angeles, Calif./Brentwood School) led the way in the
first set with six kills.
The Diplomats pulled even with 25-20 and 25-19 wins in sets
three and four. First-year Jessy Cooper (Chantilly,
Va./Chantilly)tallied five of her eight kills in the third
set to lead the Devils.
The Diplomats claimed the deciding fifth 15-11 to improve to
21-5 overall and 7-1 in the Centennial Conference.
Lee finished with a team-high 11 kills, adding two aces and 14
digs. Ely Gosheva (Sofia, Bulgaria/American U. of
Sofia) tallied 11 kills as well, adding three aces
and 18 digs on the night.
Amanda Hayes (Midlothian,
Va./Midlothian) recorded 26 digs to go with a pair of
aces. Chelsea Winkert (Cazenovia,
N.Y./Cazenovia) dished out 37 assists and had 16
digs, two aces and a pair of blocks.
Allison Molchany (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian
Academy) tallied seven blocks
while Kaylee Britain (Wayzata,
Minn./Blake) added five blocks as well.
The Red Devils slip to 6-13 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
They travel to Haverford College on Saturday to face the 'Fords and
Elizabethtown College at 12:00 and 2:30 pm.
