| (Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College baseball team split a double-header with Ursinus on
Saturday. The Devils won the opener 5-4 in extra innings and
suffered a 6-2 setback in the nightcap. |
Sophomore Sean White (Summit, N.J./Salisbury
School) turned in another strong performance on the
mound, recording 10 strikeouts while scattering seven hits.
Matt Tuneski (Waterford,
Conn./Waterford) scored off the bat ofMike
Schuster (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) to put Dickinson
on the board in the second inning.
A pair of doubles from Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth,
N.J./Ridge) and Evan Farha (Potomac,
Md./Churchill) to score two more in the bottom of the
fifth.
Ursinus answered with three runs in the top of the sixth to tie
the game, 3-3. The Bears pulled in front in the of the seventh but
Dickinson answered as Peter Bilali (Paramus,
N.J./Paramus)came in when Jordan Kaufman
(Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area)was hit by a pitch with the
bases loaded.
Bilali drove in the game-winning run as Andrew
Sterling (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) scored after
reaching on an error in the eighth to give Dickinson the win.
The Bears pushed across six runs in the middle innings of the
nightcap to split the series with a 6-2 decision.
The two-run double by Tommy Clarke put Ursinus on the board in
the third inning. They added lone runs in the fourth and fifth, and
a pair in the top of the sixth to lead 6-0.
Farha doubled to score Sciambi and came in on a sacrifice fly by
Tuneski for the Devil runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Devils
threatened in the eighth but the Bears turned a double-play to end
the inning.
Farha went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in game
two. Tyler Rosa' (Carmel by the Sea, Calif./Stevenson
School) went 2-for-3.
Garrett Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses
Brown) suffered the loss despite a solid performance
on the mound. He scattered seven hits, striking out five and
allowing just three earned runs.
The Red Devils stand at 5-16 overall and 3-5 in the Centennial
Conference. Ursinus moves to 10-12 and 1-7. Dickinson travels to
Johns Hopkins for a 3:30 start on Tuesday.
