(Hilton Head, S.C.) – The Dickinson College men's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon, falling 6-3.
The match came down to just six points in the third and fourth singles flights as the Titans captured both matches with scores of (3-6, 6-3, 10-6) and (6-1, 4-6, 12-10), respectively.
Illinois Wesleyan pulled in front, 3-0, capturing all three doubles matches. Brian Piotrowski and Nick Kenega earned the point in the top flight with an 8-3 victory. The Titans claimed the second and third flights, 8-6 and 8-5.
Senior Ross Anstaett (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier Township) won the top singles flight, 6-4, 7-5 while sophomore Will Golinkin (Houston, Texas/Kincaid) claimed the second flight in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
First-year Ari Blask (Chevy Chase, Md./Charles E. Smith) earned the Devils' third point with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 win in the sixth singles flight.
The Red Devils slip to 2-1 on the season. They face Gordon College at 12:00 pm on Wednesday.
