CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dickinson men's tennis team bounced back from their season opening loss last weekend in convincing fashion on Saturday afternoon, by posting an impressive 6-1 victory over visiting Messiah University at the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Devils 2–1)
The Devils wasted no time setting the tone in doubles play, claiming two of the three matches to secure the opening point. At the No. 2 spot, Drew Allen and Sandro Buskhrikidze dominated from start to finish, blanking Timothy Sheaffer and Xane Whitesel 6-0 to give Dickinson the early edge. Messiah answered at No. 3, where Elijah Noll and Luke Risser capitalized on key break opportunities to down Jack Weaver and Ryan Whiting 6-3. That left the top pairing to decide the doubles point, and Dickinson's duo of Lucas Bogle and David Daraban delivered under pressure, grinding out a 6-4 win over Brady Hahn and Lance Wilson to put the Devils in front 1-0 heading into singles.
Singles (Devils 5–1)
Momentum carried into singles as Dickinson took five of six matches, showcasing depth throughout the lineup. At the top of the order, Daraban battled Messiah's Wilson in a competitive first set before pulling away for a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Bogle followed with a commanding performance at No. 2, dispatching Hahn 6-1, 6-4, while Allen extended the Devils lead at the third spot picking up a 6-2, 7-5 win over Noll. Buskhrikidze was able to find a victory at No. 4, overpowering Sheaffer 6-2, 6-1 to clinch the team decision for the Devils. Weaver added to the tally at No. 5, defeating Risser 6-4, 6-0, before the lone Falcon point came at No. 6, where Whitesel edged Dickinson's Dylan Steinberg in a dramatic three-setter, 7-5, 5-7, 10-8, to close out the afternoon.
