(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's swim team suffered its first loss of the season, falling at Franklin & Marshall, 133-72, on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils, depleted with illness, struggled to make up points against the conference-leading Diplomats. First-year Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) posted three, second-place finishes on the day. He touched the wall second in the 200 (1:48.61) and 500 (4:59.03) freestyle events, and swam the third leg of the second-place 400 free relay (3:17.59).
Sophomore Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) captured the 100 freestyle (47.97) and swam to second place in the 50 freestyle (21.75). Classmate Cris Miranda (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and first-year Cameron Phillips (Woburn, Mass./Andover Academy) finished first and second in the 100 butterfly with times of 2:01.75 and 2:03.15, respectively.
The Red Devils swept the 50 freestyle event as Doug Murray (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) touched first in 21.17, followed by Adams in second and junior Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School) in third (22.10).
Seniors Jack Shine (Paoli, Pa./Haverford School) and Tristan White (Auburn, N.Y./Hotchkiss School) added second place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (10:30.62) and the 200 backstroke (1:59.93), respectively. White added a second place finish as the anchor of the 400 free relay as well.
The Red Devils slip to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. Franklin & Marshall improves to 5-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The Red Devils return home to host Gettysburg College on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
