(Bloomsburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's and women's swim teams both suffered setbacks at Division II Bloomsburg University on Sunday afternoon. The host Huskies posted a 131-119 decision on the men's side while the women claimed the meet, 148-96.
Junior Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School) had a solid meet, winning four events on the day. He posted individual wins in the 100 backstroke (53.65), 50 freestyle (21.80), and the 100 butterfly (52.56). He also swam the lead leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.12).
Sophomore Cris Miranda (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) swam the third leg of the medley relay and added second place showings in 100 and 200 butterfly events with times of 57.68 and 2:04.49, respectively. He also posted a win in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:12.14.
Senior Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School) and junior Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) rounded out the medley relay. Gauthier added a second in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.91) while Barnard placed third in the 100 butterfly, clocking a time of 1:01.93. Barnard anchored the 400 free relay, posting the second –best time of the day with a 1:31.15.
First-year Theo Hubbard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) had a strong showing in the distance events, claiming second in the both the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle events with times of 4:55.03 and 10:26.70.
The Red Devil women had some strong individual performances as well. Sophomore Caroline Brennan (Madison, N.J./Madison) won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:01.02 and placed third in the 500, clocking a time of 5:25.52.
Classmate Alexandra Goodson (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) won the 100 butterfly (1:04.49) and placed third in the 100 backstroke (1:05.98) and with the 200 medley relay (1:59.07). She also joined the 200 free relay, clocking the second fastest time of the day with a 1:46.21. Sophomore Sarah McEvoy (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) was second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.92) and third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:24.50.
First-year Caitlin Klockner (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) joined the medley and free relays, and placed second and third in the 200 and 100 freestyle events, respectively, clocking times of 1:59.61 and 56.19.
Senior Betsy Mullally (Nottingham, Md./Roland Park) joined the free relay as well, adding a pair of second place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke, with times of 1:05.42 and 2:20.31.
The women slip to 4-4 overall on the season. The Red Devil men suffer their first loss of the season to stand at 5-1 overall. Both teams travel to the Gettysburg Fall Festival on November 30th and December 1st.
