(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College field hockey team tallied four goals in the first half, and added another after the break, posting a 5-0 win over visiting Wilson College on Wednesday.
The Red Devils used a total team effort as five different players found the back of the cage. Junior Lauren Wyman (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) put the Devils on the board, scoring off an assist from sophomore Natalie Polk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) in the 15th minute.
Polk tallied a goal of her own, seven minutes later to put the Devils in front, 2-0. First-year Caroline Karwel (Fairfax Station, Va./South County Secondary) continued to have an impact on the Devil attack, stretching the Dickinson lead to 3-0, with just under six minutes remaining in the half. She finished a pass from classmate Allison Forhan (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy).
The Devils tacked on a late goal as senior Alex Boorse (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) rattled the cage with just 52 seconds remaining in the half, scoring off an assist from Alexandra Becker (Spring House, Pa./Germantown Academy) for a 4-0 advantage at the break.
First-year Kristie Roth (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) was on the receiving end of Wyman's assist, closing out the scoring in the 51st minute.
Junior Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends) and first-year Emily Fuss (Newtown Square, Pa./Notre Dame Academy) split time in goal, each making three saves in the shutout.
Last season's Rookie of the Year, Caroline Kapustynski (Darien, Conn./Darien) returned to action from an injury, playing well in her 2012 debut.
Gina Weigold and Kaite Omori combined to make four saves for Wilson (1-1).
The Red Devils are home again on Saturday, hosting Elmira College at 1:00 pm.
