(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's team, swimming without some of its top performers out with illness, turned in a strong team effort to post a 130-74 win over visiting Washington College on Saturday.
First-year Theo Hubbard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) led the way with a triple-win afternoon. He captured the 200 individual medley (1:59.05) and the 500 freestyle (4:53.52), and added another win with the 400 medley relay, swimming the third leg as the Devils clocked a time of 3:38.04.
Senior Kevin Chibbaro (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Twp.) placed first in the 100 freestyle (49.58) and led-off the winning 400 free relay (3:21.51) as Dickinson went 1-2 in the final event. He added a second place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.48.
Classmate Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School) joined the winning medley relay and won the 50 freestyle, edging Chibbaro with a time of 22.19. He added a second place showing in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:17.57.
Sophomore Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) added wins in the 200 backstroke (2:02.83) and with the medley relay. He placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:50.86), finishing just behind first-year Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken School), who placed second with a time of 1:50.42. Karickhoff added a win with the free relay and placed third in the 100 freestyle as well (50.35).
Junior Michael Mason (Richmond, Va./Collegiate School) showed well in the distance events. He placed second in the 1000 (10:36.36) and third in the 500, touching the wall in 5:10.48. Senior Zach Yocum (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) anchored the medley relay and scored with third place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:08.04) and the 200 breaststroke (2:25.80).
Sophomore Cameron Phillips (Woburn, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) clocked a time of 2:01.88 to win the 200 butterfly.
The Red Devils improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again next Saturday, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm.
