(Dallas, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team is off to a 2-0 start following a 4-0, shutout win, at Misericordia University on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils struck early as senior Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) scored off an assist from classmate Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/The American School) in the 17th minute of play.
The Devils stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute as junior Dan Gaj (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) redirected a header into the net, off an assist from Jonathan Harper (Westwood, Mass./Westwood). After the break, the Red Devils connected for another goal on a header. This time it was Mena who finished the goal with an assist by sophomore Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy) in the 72nd minute.
Harper served up another assist in the closing minutes as first-year Danny Sheppard (Rydal, Pa./Abington) scored on a third straight header for Devils to make the final, 4-0.
The Red Devils held a 21-12 advantage in shots and a slim edge in corners, 7-5. Junior Reed Milbrath (Dickerson, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) and sophomore Jake Schreer (Towako, N.J./Morristown Beard) shared the shutout in the nets as Milbrath made five saves.
Barry Fitzgerald made six saves in goal for Misericordia (1-1).
Dickinson improves to 2-0 on the season. They return home to face #18-ranked Carnegie Mellon next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
