(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team was right with visiting Gettysburg throughout the meet, but suffered a 109-96 defeat to unbeaten Gettysburg College. The Red Devil women turned in some strong performances as well but dropped a 124-81 decision on Wednesday night.
Senior Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) led-off the medley relay as the Red Devils claimed second to open the meet, posting a time of 1:37.33. He captured wins in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.81 and the 100 yard backstroke, clocking a time of 50.20.
Classmate Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) anchored the medley relay and added a pair of wins as well. He touched the wall first in the 400 individual medley (4:22.41) and won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.19.
Junior Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) had a strong meet, winning the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.81. He placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:46.84) and anchored the 200 free relay to a second place showing as well (1:29.30).
First-year Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:06.40 and placed fourth in the 100 free (50.37). He led-off the second place free relay as well. Classmate Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) joined the medley relay and placed second behind Gauthier in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.53). Sophomore Michael Lenker (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) captured the third spot in the breaststroke with a time of 1:02.73.
Sophomore Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken School) swam to second with the free relay and placed third in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 50.06). Junior Micah Smith (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) joined both relays.
The Red Devils slip to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College on Senior Day at 2:00 pm.
