(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team turned in some strong performances on Saturday, but suffered a 124-78 setback to visiting Washington College.
First-year Nick Beard (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) had a pair of wins, swimming the second leg of the winning medley relay and touching the wall first in the 200 breaststroke. Classmate Jake Beley (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) led-off the medley relay and claimed third in the 200 yard butterfly event. Junior Michael Lenker (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) was second behind Beard in the 200 breaststroke.
Sophomore Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) swam well in the distance events, winning the 500 freestyle and finishing second in the 1000. He anchored the 400 free relay to second place as they clocked a time of 3:28.02.
Senior Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) earned three silvers on the day. He swam the lead leg of the free relay after postings seconds in the 200 freestyle and the 200 backstroke. Classmate Cameron Phillips (Woburn, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) placed second in the 200 butterfly and swam the third leg of the medley relay.
Sophomore Travis Lipscomb (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) clocked the fastest time in the 200 individual medley to go with a second place finish with the 400 free relay. Classmate Brian Reid (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) swam the anchor leg of the winning medley and earned a second with the free relay as well.
Senior Micah Smith (Clemons, N.C./West Forsyth) captured thirds in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
The Red Devils slip to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again next weekend, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm.
