Box Score
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson football went on the offensive, right from the start of Saturday's match-up with visiting McDaniel College. The Red Devils struck early and often, rolling to a 53-14 win at Biddle Field.
The Red Devils scored on the first play from scrimmage and recovered a fumble on the ensuing kick-off to quickly stretch the lead to 15-0. First-year Billy Burger (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) connected with senior Anders Overhaug (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) for a 75 yard touchdown to put Dickinson on the board with just 10 seconds off the clock.

The Green Terror would answer on the next possession as Tayahd Campbell broke free for a 62 yard scoring run at the 8:43 mark. That would, however, mark the end of the scoring for McDaniel until late in the fourth quarter.
Senior Austin High (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) boomed a 57 yard punt to start the second quarter. McDaniel moved the ball to the Dickinson 32 yard line before senior Teddy Airoldi (Bethlehem, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) stalled the drive with an interception at the 18.
Cedric Madden (Norristown, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) broke free down the right sideline for a 57 yard gain before Chris Inge dragged him down to save another touchdown. It would be just a matter of time, though, as Madden found the end zone on a 13 yard run, giving Dickinson a 22-7 advantage, with just under 10 minute to play in the half.
Airoldi came up big once again, recovering a fumble forced by Aturo Adkins (Canton, Mass./St. Sebastian's) on the Terror's next possession to set Dickinson up on the 36 yard line. McDaniel was able to hold, forcing a field-goal attempt from the five yard line. A bad snap led to Ward scrambling around the left side this time, trying to get into the end zone. He was stopped on the three yard line as McDaniel would take over on downs.
Dickinson forced a punt to take possession at midfield with 38 second remaining in the half. Burger connected with Overhaug for a 25 yard gain and hit senior Jake Meluskey (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) with a 22 yard strike to move the Devils to the two-yard line. On the next play. Burger found Walbert in the corner of the end zone for his second TD catch of the day, fighting off pass interference in the process.
The second half would offer little relief for the visitors as turnovers would continue to plaque the McDaniel offense. This time it was senior Pat Schlecker (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) with the interception, returning the ball 13 yards to the McDaniel 11 yard line.
The Devils were held to a field-goal as first-year Stephen Walker (Darien, Conn./Darien) split the uprights from 26 yards out to extend the lead to 32-7.
Following another punt the Devils would go 48 yards on eight plays with Burger diving in from the three yard line for a 39-7 lead, with 9:22 still to play in the third quarter. The teams traded punts once again, but it was just a matter of time. Soulas would find a lane and break for a 50 yard scoring run as the Devils rolled to a 46-7 advantage at the 4:55 mark.
The Devils would strike again before the end of the quarter as Airoldi forced another fumble into the hands of Erik Dettloff (Fallston, Md./Fallston) at the 50 yard line. A penalty moved the Devils back but Overhaug made up the difference with a 19 yard run back to midfield.
The Devils had to punt, but a fumble was recovered by Meluskey on the McDaniel three yard line. Soulas pounded his way into the end zone on the next play, stretching the lead to 53-7.
McDaniel opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back scores, missing an extra-point to make the score 53-20, with 8:47 to play.
Airoldi recovered another fumble but the Devils were unable to produce on the turnover. The defense came up big one last time, making a goal line stand on a stop by Pat Irwin (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) on the two yard line.
