(Dallas, Pa.) – Senior forward Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy) scored a pair of goals on Wednesday night to lead the Dickinson men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory at the University of Misericordia.
Hylton-Dei converted a penalty kick in the 31st minute to put the Red Devils on the board. Sophomore Will Bracken (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) finished an assist from first-year Ward Van de Water (Warrenton, Va./Highland) just seven minutes later to give Dickinson a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Red Devils drew a corner kick in the 65th minute and Hylton-Dei capitalized to stretch the margin to 3-0.
Misericordia put a goal on the board with just over eight minutes remaining as Devin Marriott made a nice move at the top of the area and hit a well-placed shot in the right corner of the net.
The Cougars had another strong chance on a throw-in but goaltender Jacob Schreer (Towaco, N.J./Morristown Beard) made a nice play on a tough hop to gain possession.
The Red Devils outshot the Cougars, 12-8, and held a slim edge in corners, 7-6. P.J. Steiner made four saves for Misericordia while Schreer finished with a pair.
Misericordia drops to 5-4-2 overall while the Red Devils improve to 7-2-2 on the season. Dickinson is on the road again this weekend, traveling to Haverford College for a 2:00 pm start.
