(Hilton Head, S.C.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team, ranked No. 20 in the ITA Atlantic South Region poll, suffered a pair of setbacks on Monday, falling to Ashford University, 5-4, and Ohio Wesleyan, 6-1.
John Kneisley (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) captured the lone point for the Red Devils against OWU, winning the fifth singles flight, (7-5, 6-0).
Dickinson opened with a 2-1 advantage in doubles against Ashford. Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) and Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) claimed the top singles flight, 8-2, while Joey Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Boca Raton) and Erik Dinardo (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) held off Gian Pico and Alvaro Merino in the second flight, 8-6.
Kaplan won the point in the third singles flight, posting a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Josh Kaseff (Westport, Conn./Staples) came out on top in the fifth, (6-3, 4-6, 10-6). Frank and Clark battled in the top two singles flights, but the Saints were able to hold on to take both in three sets.
The Red Devils slip to 1-2 on the season. They close out the week with a match against Bridgewater College on Friday.
