In the top of the seventh, it was veteran shortstop Steven Haynes (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) returning to the bullpen for the first time since his rookie season. He proved to be extremely effective as well, tossing three straight ground outs to keep the Falcons at bay once again.
The Devils erupted for another five runs in the seventh to stretch the lead to 12-3. First-year Matt Persick (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) and Besse were hit by pitches to start things off before Rick Hopkins (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Holy Spirit) drew a walk to load the bases.
