(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson men's swim team suffered its first Centennial Conference loss of the season, falling at Washington College on Sunday, 120-85.
Swimming for the second straight day, the Red Devils had some strong individual performances. First-year Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) led-off the winning 400 medley relay (3:35.84), won the 200 backstroke (2:00.58) and placed second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:57.56.
Classmate Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) joined the medley relay and won the 200 butterfly (1:56.59). Kevin Potocki (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) anchored the medley relay, and placed third in the 50 (22.60) and 100 (49.74) freestyle events.
Junior Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) claimed three second place finishes, anchoring the 400 free relay and touching the wall second in the 200 (1:48.30) and 500 (4:57.60) yard freestyle events.
Mitch Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) came in second in the 1000 freestyle, clocking a time of 10:11.88 and placed third in the 500 with a mark of 4:59.31.
Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/The Hawken School) placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:49.85) and joined Allen Belo (Odenton, Md./Severn School) and Travis Lipscomb (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) on the free relay.
Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) swam the second leg of the medley relay and added a silver with a time of 2:15.16 in the 200 breaststroke. Senior Michael Lenker (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) was third in the breaststroke (2:16.71) while Sasha Jouravlev (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) claimed bronze in the 200 backstroke (2:04.47).
The Red Devils slip to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Gettysburg College on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
