Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson senior Danny Sheppard (Rydal, Pa./Abington), fresh off a game-winning goal on Monday night, tallied a hat-trick on Wednesday to lead the Red Devil men's soccer team to 3-0 win over the visiting University of Misericordia.
Sheppard put the Red Devils on the board in the 36th minute, collecting a loose ball and ripping a shot into the back of the net.
He put the Devils up 2-0, just before the half, scoring in similar fashion as a scramble in front the net opened the door for his second of the night.
The second half turned into a physical battle with five cautions being issued. The Red Devils kept their composure throughout the half, adding another insurance goal in the 70th minute as first-year Brendan McGovern (Burlington, Vt./Kimball Union Academy, N.H.) tallied the assist on Sheppard's third goal of the night to complete the natural hat-trick.
The Red Devils outshot the Cougars 9-3 in the first half and finished with a 13-6 advantage. They held a slim edge in corners, 3-2.
Matt Smith made four saves for Misericordia as they slip to 6-4-1 on the season. Senior Jeremy Palcan (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Ignatius Prep) finished with five saves as the Red Devils continue to improve as the season develops, moving to 5-5-1 overall.
Dickinson is home again on Saturday, hosting #12-ranked Haverford College at 6:00 pm on Saturday night in a rematch of the 2015 Centennial Conference title game.
