CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's tennis team picked up their first win of the 2022-23 campaign on Friday afternoon with a dominant 8-1 win over the visiting Messiah University Falcons at the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Devils 3-0)
Dickinson got off to a fantastic start as the second pair of
Garrick Adams and
Thomas Griffin were too much for Jonathan Baker and Josh Gingerich winning by a score of 8-1. The duo of
DJ Finnell and
Levi Veleanu claimed victory by the same margin at third doubles. The top team of
Romano De Caprio and
Will Lewis gave up two games to Connor Rose and Chase Wilson, but were still able to knock off the Falcons 8-2.
Singles (Devils 5-1)
At the top slot Adams had a good battle with Wilson before holding him off 6-4, 6-3. Lewis playing in the fourth spot surrendered a total of five games to Gingerich en route to a 6-3, 6-2 triumph. First-year
Spencer Goodman and Veleanu posted identical 6-1, 6-1 victories at sixth and second singles. De Caprio playing in the third spot blanked Michael Sell in the first 6-0, prior to winning 6-2 in the second. The lone Devils loss of the match came at the number five slot where
Florian Anderson could not overcome Michael Niemi falling 2-6, 4-6.
Next on the Court
This concluded the fall slate for the Red and White (1-1) as they will now turn their attention to the spring portion of their schedule which will be posted soon.
