CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team kicked off their 2022-23 schedule with a dominating 9-0 victory over Division II Shippensburg University at the Hays Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
Doubles (Devils 3-0)
The Red and White were off to a strong start from the word go as the third pair of
Izzy Desjardins and
Alisa Steele blanked Sahar Islam and Jessalyn Morrow by a score of 8-0. The next match to finish was the top duo
Martine Fierro and her partner
Ariana Goitz as they took care of Corrine Markovich and Brooklynn Rupert 8-2, while
Anabelle Armendarez and
Dana Kleinman were too strong at the number two slot posting an 8-3 victory.
Singles (Devils 6-0)
Two Devils were able to put up shutouts during singles play as number one Fierro went 6-0, 6-0 against Rupert and first-year Steele playing in her first collegiate match did not give up a game to Morrow going 6-0, 6-0. Desjardins in the number six slot clinched the match for the home side with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Katelyn Hanft. The next match to wrap-up involved Kleinman in the fourth spot as she defeated Islam by set scores of 6-1, 6-0. Goitz beat out Cantwell (7-5, 6-3) and Armendarez was too much for Kendall Winters going 6-2, 6-4.

Dickinson (1-0) gets back to work on Friday when a group of players head to Fredericksburg, Virginia for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Regionals hosted at the University of Mary Washington.
