LANCASTER, Pa. - Coming off a strong season that saw them qualify for the Centennial Conference Tournament for the second straight season the Dickinson women's tennis team was recognized with two players earning All-Conference honors the league office announced on Thursday afternoon. Junior,
Jenna Crain was tabbed for First Team in singles, while being joined by doubles partner first-year
Merve Uyumazturk on the Second Team.
Singles
Crain went 9-5 overall including an outstanding mark of 7-1 in conference playing at the top spot for the Red and White. She claimed conference victories against Washington (Md.), Bryn Mawr, Ursinus, Gettysburg, Swarthmore, Franklin & Marshall and Muhlenberg. She posted four set wins of 6-0 which included a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance against Natalia Navarro from Goucher on March 22nd. From March 22nd thru April 7th she recorded five consecutive victories with four of them coming in straight sets.
Doubles
The duo of Crain and Uyumazturk posted a 5-5 record going 2-3 within the conference playing as the top pair. Their first triumph as a team came on February 15th at Drew where they knocked off Madison Williams and Natalia Zamora 7-5. During their spring trip to Florida the pair collected a win against Claudia Curtis and Andreina Tejada from Wisconsin-Superior (6-1), before returning to Carlisle for triumphs over Goucher (Natalia Navarro-Meline Siggen) and Washington (Md.) (Eva Kading-Soleil Namunyola). They added one more conference win against the Ursinus duo of Caroline Daly and Bella Vassalluzzo.
