COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team stayed alive in the playoff hunt on Saturday evening as first-year
Ava Prisco netted a goal in each half to help the Red and White secure a 2-0 shutout win over the host Ursinus College Bears at Patterson Field.
The Red and White wasted no time getting on the board as
Lila Brown setup Prisco for her first of the night with just 3:39 off the clock. Dickinson continued to apply pressure over the ensuing ten minutes with chances coming from
Emma Cooney,
Bridget Merkel, Brown and Prisco forcing Maddie Nau into making just one save. At the other end of the pitch DC keeper
Elizabeth Allen was tasked with denying both Madison Bjorndahl and Alicia Page to preserve the 1-0 edge in the 25th-minute. The remainder of the half saw the Devils record the only other three shots with
Maddie St. Amand,
Katie Vassilakos and Prisco unable to bother Nau.
For the second period in a row Dickinson made their first shot count when Prisco buried her second of the match with just 46-seconds gone. The Devils would add two more chances over the following ten minutes with Brown missing wide to the right and Prisco being denied her hat trick when Nau beat away her offering. Allen kept her clean sheet going during the 59th as she turned aside Liv Morrow. From that point on the rest of the match the visitors would have the better of the play outshooting the Bears seven to one with attempts coming from
Sophia Elguera (2),
Isra Khan,
Ellie Nordwind, Cooney and Prisco (2) forcing four more stops from Nau to set the 2-0 scoreline.

Postseason Outlook
Dickinson currently holds the sixth and final Centennial Conference postseason spot, but only has one conference match remaining while the teams within striking distance have two left. The scenarios for the Red and White will be made clear after Wednesday's action heading into the final conference game next Saturday afternoon.
