CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team entered their Senior Day showdown with the Bryn Mawr College Owls knowing that a win or a draw would book them a place in next week's Centennial Conference tournament. First-half markers from
Norah Heacock and
Sarah Cudmore would be enough to do the trick as the Devils held a 22-3 shot advantage (12-1 on target) and cruised to a 2-0 win at Miller Memorial Field.
Dickinson applied the pressure early as shots from
Bridget Merkel,
Maddie St. Amand and Heacock forced one stop out of Aliya Stubenbord within the first five minutes. After
Elizabeth Allen had the answer for Madeline Cohen, the Red and White kept attacking Stubenbord's goal with chances flying in from
Emily Dunkel,
Sophia Elguera,
Katie Vassilakos and Merkel tasking the keeper with making three more stops. Then finally in the 28th-minute the Devils relentless attack was rewarded when Heacock finished off an unassisted tally.
Emma Cooney, Cudmore and Elguera ripped three more blasts at goal tasking Stubenbord with another save, before a ball played into the box by
Norah Anderson glanced off the head of Elguera to the feet of Cudmore which she muscled over the line for the 2-0 advantage going into the break.
The opening 20 minutes of the second period saw Dickinson record three more chances with
Allison Cudmore, S. Cudmore and St. Amand all asking questions of Stubenbord who was up to the task. The Red and White added six more shots over as
Lauren Flowers,
Lexie Greene,
Melina Jagiello,
Isra Khan, Elguera and Vassilakos tasking Stubenbord with adding five additional stops to her ledger to end the match at 2-0.
