GETTYSBURG, Pa. - There are some nights when the ball just will not bounce your way and that is exactly how the Dickinson women's soccer team felt on Wednesday night as they outshot the host Gettysburg College 13-4 (5-1 on target) and earned nine corners to the Bullets one. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the host side tallied a goal in 67th-minute to claim a 1-0 Centennial Conference win at Clark Field.
Gettysburg applied some early pressure towards Devils keeper
Elizabeth Allen as Morgan Hobson recorded a shot just 57-seconds in. It would then take until the 11th-minute for the next shot to be taken when
Norah Heacock missed over the top of Alex Jurow's net. Dickinson would have the only other two chances of the period with
Katie Vassilakos going wide left in the 29th, before she rang the left post with 38:59 off the clock.
The Devils continued to be on the attack to begin the second-half
Lila Brown,
Bridget Merkel and
Ava Prisco combined for five shots within the opening ten minutes tasking Jurow with making two stops preserve the scoreless tie. Gettysburg did not record their first shot of the frame until the 66th-minute mark as Petra Brown had her opportunity blocked. However, the Bullets made their only corner of the match count just over a minute after that when Zoe Want found Jordan Weinberg for the finish. 30-second later Vassilakos attempted to provide the equalizer, but Jurow was there to make the stop. Dickinson would tally four more shots in the match thanks to Heacock, Prisco (2) and Vassilakos, unfortunately Jurow was there to record two more saves including one with a minute left in the match to claim all three points for the Bullets.
