Inside the Devils Den
Fireside Review - DEVILS 19, Franklin & Marshall 17 (Carlisle, Pa. - Biddle Field)
Dickinson needed just under seven minutes to secure the first points of the game when Kieran O'Neill capped off an eight-play drive with a 36-yard kick. The Diplomats took the next possession and marched 79 yards in 13 plays over 6:50 to take a 7-3 lead when Ty Tremba found Gary Lewis for the nine-yard TD (Laurence Miller kick). The second period saw neither team really able to move the ball which resulted in no points being scored over the opening ten-plus minutes. Until, Alex Merrifield blocked a Miller punt in the endzone that he recovered for a touchdown and a 10-7 lead (Justin Worobel kick) with just 3:43 left. Unfortunately, the Red and White were unable to take the lead into the break as Miller knocked home a 19-yard field goal at the horn making it 10-10. Late in the third quarter F&M grabbed their first lead of the game when Tremba hit Lewis for the second time from nine out to claim a 17-10 advantage. Three minutes into the fourth Worobel cut the margin by three as he drilled a 29-yard kick ending another lengthy drive of 13 plays. After DC stalled the ensuing Diplomats drive the Devils took over with 8:40 left on their own two and proceeded to suck the life out of the game going 21-plays and 98 yards ending with Diante Ball taking a toss around the left side and stretching across the line for the 19-17 final.

The Offensive General
Quarterback Presley Egbers was 15-for-25 against the Diplomats totaling 147 yards. For the season, he has posted a solid 99.51 rating thanks to going 55-of-115 for 598 yards and two TDs. Egbers is also the second leading rusher of the team carrying the rock 36 times for 170 yards (4.7 avg) and three scores.

Rushing Attack
As usual for the Red and White, Ball was the main workhorse on the ground rushing 30 times for 145 yards and the game-winning touchdown with a 4.8 yards per carry average. Egbers was the only other Devil to record a run going nine times for 44 yards. With six games remaining Ball has a chance to post his second straight 1000-yard plus season as he currently sits at 453 yards on 90 touches which has him averaging a conference-best 113.3 yards per game.

Pass Catchers
Egbers attempted to hit seven different targets on Friday night against F&M. However, he was able to only link up with four of them as he found Princeton Douglass a game-high eight times for 76 yards, while hooking up with Matt Maiona four times totaling up 50 yards. The duo of Frederik Fjeldseth and Ball combined for three catches and 21 yards.

Defense Helps as Well
The Dickinson defense was led on the night by Sam Orzolek who recorded a game-high 11 tackles (five solo), including three for loss and one-and-a-half sacks. The duo of Bram Leys and James Basilii each had seven stops and combined for one tackle for loss. Brendan Walker added five hits, while Anton Jacobs, Neville Krueger, Jeremy Reid and Alex Sulin all had four stops apiece.

At The Seaport
Head Coach Paul Crowley and Christopher Newport arrives in Carlisle with the same record as the Devils at 3-1 overall with a 1-0 mark inside the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Captains so far this season have secured wins over Southern Virginia (45-0), Gettysburg (49-17) and Salisbury (24-14), while their only setback came in Baltimore to Johns Hopkins by a margin of 20-14.

The Captains applied a "double barrelled" quarterback system last weekend against Salisbury as Connor Barry got the start going 10-for-20 racking up 163 yards and one touchdown with an interception, while Matt Dzierski took over during the fourth and threw just two passes completing one for a 65-yard touchdown. Colin Hart was the favorite target for whoever was under center as he hauled in six passes for 116 yards. The duo of Trey Hayes and Gunner White each caught two balls combining for 106 yards and two TDs. Xander Jedlick chipped in one grab that picked up six yards. CNU rushed the rock for just 70 yards on Saturday against the Sea Gulls on 34 carries to post a 2.1 average. White toted the rock 13 times for a team-high 33 yards, while the QB tandem joined together for 18 runs which racked up just 39 yards.

Defensively, the Captains will be led by NJAC Defensive Player of the Week Josh Uvodich who had a huge last game making four tackles in addition to picking off two passes, forcing and recovering a fumble and tallying two pass break-ups as SU average just 2.7 yards per play. Kindrick Braxton paced the team in hits with nine, including one for a loss. The pair of Carson Turner and Andrew Worsham each made six tackles and forced a fumble, while Taizuan Brown added five stops and caused a fumble as well. Five other Captains joined together to record 15 tackles (six for loss).
