WESTMINSTER, Md. - The 12th-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team had a dozen different players hit the back of the net, led by four from
Will Farrell to roll past the host McDaniel College Green Terror by a score of 20-7 at Gill Stadium in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday.
Dickinson was on the board just 39-seconds in as
John McKee claimed the opening draw and got the rock ahead to Farrell who bested Brighton Lorber. However, the home side responded immediately with Jason Fritz solving
Chris Brandau. The Red and White had the next three shots with
Matt Thurston hitting the pipe and sending one wide, while
James Isaacson buried his first of the afternoon. Then the Terror applied some pressure as Zach Micklos and Nick Wingo ripped shots off the mark, but watched AJ Johnson tie the game. The Red and White then took over the period by recording the next seven chances as
Ethan Gess,
Mac Childs and Farrell each tickled the twine behind Lorber to extend the lead out to 5-2 with 7:12 left. Two stops by Brandau, led to opportunities from
Cooper Chamberlain,
Sam Campbell, Gess (saved), Childs (saved) and Thurston (saved). Inside the final minute Brandau slammed the door shut on Nick DeLoriers which allowed Isaacson to net his second of the frame for a 6-2 advantage through one.Â
Both keepers notched a save within the first two minutes of the second as Lober denied Farrell, while Brandau returned the favor versus Fritz. Offerings for
Sam Bunten,
Owen Porter, Campbell and Farrell could not add-on to the lead, until
Skyler Schluter found
Ben Tomick for the seventh (7-2). Dickinson would be right around the net with their next four shots as Lorber stopped both
Sascha Gannon and Campbell, but watched attempts by Isaacson and
Charlie Baughan beat him to extend the Devils margin out to 9-2 with 3:14 left. Lorber would be tasked with making three more saves in the quarter to keep the score where it was going into the half.Â
Dickinson tallied the opening four shots of the third with two of them getting past Lorber thanks to Thurston and Farrell to make it 11-2 not even two minutes in. After McDaniel stemmed the tide for a few minutes with two goals of their own, the Red and White got back on the board when Thurston caused a turnover of Jimmy Schmidt who then found Schluter who hit Porter for the finish. Then, after McKee won the ensuing faceoff Schluter picked up an unassisted marker. Another goal each from Schluter and Farrell sandwiched a tally for Fritz to have DC on top by ten (15-5) through 45-minutes.Â
Patrick Scarborough took over for Brandau between the pipes to kickoff the fourth and immediately watched his teammates make it 16-5 thanks to Porter dishing the rock off to Schluter. He then was called into action twice making stops on Micklos and Wingo, which allowed for
Ren LaMotte and Gess to score on consecutive shots pushing the margin to 18-5 with 13:02 remaining. Dickinson kept coming as shots by
Lee Dunn and
Will Single hit the post, while
Ben Monroe rocketed one past Lorber (19-5). After, back-to-back saves from Scarborough, Fritz added one more to the McDaniel total. However, the Red and White answered right back when
Jack Cratty smacked the ball loose from Gabe Jensen allowing
Jacob Strouch to setup Dunn for the 20th.
Ben Tompkins became the third goalie of the night for the Devils with four minutes left and right away turned aside Micklos. The Green Terror claimed the final goal of the contest with four seconds to play through Jensen to set the 20-7 result.
