CARLISLE, Pa. - The ninth-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team showed great offensive balance on Saturday afternoon as a dozen different players hit the back of the net as the Red and White cruised to an 18-5 win over the visiting Fords of Haverford College at Biddle Field.
After a 90-minute lightning delay pushed the start of the game back the Devils were off and running from the word "go" as
John McKee claimed the opening draw and took just 47-seconds for
Skyler Schluter to find
Lee Dunn for the finish past Jacob Abraham. Dickinson recorded the next four shots as well with Abraham stopping
Sam Campbell, while
Owen Porter rang iron. Haverford finally recorded their first shot of the contest with 9:19 left when Tyler Vendetti missed
Chris Brandau in the DC cage. However, he was tasked with making a stop about 20-seconds later on Drew Hoffman. A turnover forced by
Seamus McCloskey led to the Devils second marker through
James Isaacson. Haverford cut it to 2-1 with four minutes left, before shots from Campbell and Porter went wide. However, Isaacson ripped the netting with his second unassisted tally to give the Red and White a 3-1 edge after 15-minutes.Â
For the second straight period the Devils picked up a goal within the first minute as Schluter found
Will Farrell for a strike. The two sides shared the next six shots with each keeper recording a save, until Isaacson finished off his hat trick at the 4:30 mark to make it 5-1. It was quickly 6-1 after that when Porter delivered the rock to its home. The Fords pulled one back just over a minute later to cut it down to four. That woke the DC offense up even more as they unloaded the next eleven shots tasking Abraham with turning aside three of them. Brandau made one more stop of his own with 25-ticks left to preserve the 6-2 advantage.Â
Two minutes into the third attempts from Campbell and Schluter were denied by Abraham, before
Ben Tomick pushed the lead to 7-2. A couple minutes later the advantage grew to 8-2 when a cross-field pass from a DC attacker was deflected by a Haverford defender past Abraham. The Fords tallied on their next two shots to pull within 9-4, but after that it was all Devils as they stuck four more beyond the reach of the visiting goalie prior to the end of the third with
Ethan Gess, Porter (2) and Schluter to seize a commanding 13-4 advantage heading to the final 15-minutes.
An early DC miscue led to Andrew Arth cashing in to make it 13-5 with just over a minute off the clock.
Xander Usich forced the turnover that led to the Campbell marker with 12:08 remaining. Haverford tried to offer some resistance by recording the next five shots of the game forcing Brandau to make two more saves. However, it would be the Red and White who added another one courtesy of
Mac Childs (15-5). Brandau's final action of the game came at the 6:52 mark when he stoned Eric Dahlberg as he was replaced by
Patrick Scarborough between the pipes. He made his first save less than a minute into his appearance turning aside Reid Tietjen, while at the other end Peter Del Col entered for Abraham and shutdown
Michael McGraw. Dickinson added three more goals on their next three shots thanks to
Jacob Strouch,
Ben Monroe and
Landen Hyatt (
Jack Schutte assist) making the lead 18-5 with four minutes left. Haverford had the final four chances of the game, but none of them bothered Scarborough.
