BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team knew going into Saturday's regular season finale that a road win over Bryn Mawr College and some help in some other matches would earn them a first round home game in next week's Centennial Conference tournament. Tallies from McKenna Gross and
Maddie St. Amand allowed DC to leave Applebee Field with a 2-1 win, while a draw between Haverford and Swarthmore secured the four seed for the Red and White resulting in a home game on Tuesday.
- The Devils needed less than two minutes to take the lead when Bridget Merkel setup St. Amand for the finish past Maeve Slemko.
- Dickinson continued to fire away with Emily Dunkel, Ellie Nordwind and Ava Prisco all recording shots tasking Slemko into two saves.
- In the 22nd minute the score went to 2-0 as Dunkel served in a corner to Madison Mobray who had her shot stopped by Slemko. Fortunately, Gross was able to pounce on the rebound and stuff the ball into the net.
- The Red and White added six more shots over the remainder of the period with Norah Anderson, Mobray and St. Amand forcing three more stops out of Slemko sending the match to the break.
- Kamonlak Pliwma went between the sticks for the Owls to start the frame and was immediately put under fire as Lexie Greene, Mobray, Nordwind and Prisco all forced saves.
- Then, in the 64th minute Emma Burrows replaced Sophia Kavulich in goal for the Devils after she did not see a shot up to that point.
- However, the Owls would record their first and only shot of the match during the 67tth when a foul in the box led to a penalty kick for the hosts. Rece Anton stepped up from 12-yards out and beat Burrows to make it 2-1.
- Lila Brown, Isra Khan, Kaite Vassilakos and Prisco each added one more shot to the ledger forcing Pliwma into one more stop to preserve the 2-1 win.
- On the day the Devils held a 24-1 edge in shots (13-1 on target).
