CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team got a goal from junior
Maddie St. Amand in the fifth-minute of the second period of overtime to book the Red and White a slot in Friday's Centennial Conference Semifinals as the fourth-seeded Devils nabbed a 2-1 win over the fifth seed Swarthmore College on Tuesday evening at Miller Memorial Field.
- The Devils had the opening chance just 46-seconds in, but Lauren Ervin was turned aside by Lila Travers.
- Swarthmore responded two minutes later by testing Sophia Kavulich with a rip from Sydney Ross.
- The next two shots belonged to the Garnet as well with Charlotte Carleton missing the target, while Celia Kanellakos bested Kavulich for the 1-0 lead in the 14th minute.
- St. Amand responded with the next three opportunities for the Red and White, unfortunately, only one of them forced a stop out of Travers.
- Dickinson continued to carry the momentum as Charlotte Hare, Madison Mobray and Katie Vassilakos each tallied a shot to end the half.
- The Devils needed just 50 seconds to grab equalizer as Ava Prisco worked down the right-side and slipped a pass to Vassilakos who knocked a shot past Travers.
- The two sides shared the ensuing six shots with Hare, St. Amand and Vassilakos tasking Travers with making one stop to keep things tied.
- Off a DC corner in the 70th-minute, the home side had a chance at snagging the lead as Georgia Mantione had an offering blocked, before Vassilakos sent the ball over the net.
- Swarthmore's final chance came two minutes later, but Callie Stoltz missed wide right.
- Hare and St. Amand each tallied a shot late, however, none of them bothered Travers sending the contest to extra time.
- The visitors had the better of the play during the first ten minute period notching the only three shots of the frame, but unable to call upon Kavulich.
- Dickinson would gain all the momentum in the second period as Vassilakos was shutdown by Travers in the 104th, before a cross from the right wing went into a mess of humanity inside the 18-yard box where Prisco nudged the ball over to St. Amand for the match winning finish.
