Inside the Game
Following a scoreless first, Dickinson went to work in the second with two out as a double for
Josh Markley and walk to
Christian Kim put two men on. Then, with
Luke Gartland in the box both runners stole the ensuing base and thanks to a throwing error by the catcher allowed Markley to score. He then provided an RBI knock to left-center making it 2-0. The Devils continued to bash away at the Bullets pitching during the third when reliever Ryan Wootten gave up a one-out hit batter, single by
Kaden Sigmon and a fielder's choice off the stick of
Matt Torres plated one and left two men on for
Chase Weller. He pushed the margin out to 6-0 with a three-run shot over the left-field wall. The home side pulled one back during the last of the third thanks to a pair of DC errors leading to an RBI single for David Preziuso. With one away in the top of the fourth, both
Dylan Posencheg and
Ryan Thompson singled while Sigmon walked to fill the bags. That set the stage for Torres to single into right-field driving home one making the lead 7-1 as the game entered the fifth.
Dickinson added another to their total in the fifth when a single by Gartland as well as a failed pickoff moved him to third allowing
Kenny Tagliareni to plate him with a groundout to first. Gettysburg chipped into the deficit once again in the bottom-half as a hit batter came around to score on a two-bagger by Mabret Levant. Two batters later Jack Burke provided a two-run homer to left cutting it down to 8-4 going to the seventh. Two hit batters and walk filled the cushions for Tagliareni who smoked a bases clearing double to left for an 11-4 edge. That brought Patrick Clementi into the game and gave up a single to
Nathan Bowman, which came around to score on a Thompson single before he crossed thanks to a triple by Sigmon pushing it to 13-4. Brett Townsley was brought in to try and stem the tide, but an RBI single from Torres, double for
Will Ferris and free pass to Markley filled the bags for Kim. He earned a bases-loaded walk, followed by a two RBI knock by Gartland and RBI infield single for Tagliareni to extend the lead to 18-4 heading to the home-half. A triple and sacrifice fly to left drove in one, but Kody Clausius flew out to left ending the game.
