CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team got 17 points each from
Cole Cosby and
Isaiah Edmond to help start off Centennial Conference play with a bang as the Red and White held off the visiting Swarthmore College 64-62 on Saturday evening inside the Kline Center.
- The two sides traded blows over the opening four minutes as buckets for Juan Ruiz, Brandon Wiercinski and Edmond had the hosts ahead 8-7.
- Five points for Zander Jimenez was answered by five from Cosby to keep DC in front 13-12.
- Following two foul shots by Eddie Paquette, Cosby, Ruiz and Wiercinski went on a 9-3 push to take a 22-17 advantage with less than seven minutes left.
- Swarthmore ended the frame strong taking eight of the last nine points thanks in large part to a triple each for Devin Burger and Brady Kageyama as the game went to the breat at 25-23 guests.
- Dickinson began fast with a three for Cosby and one basket each from David Petrusev and Ruiz giving DC the slim edge at 30-29 with just over two minutes gone.
- Ryan Leskauskas, Cosby and Petrusev made it 35-33, but Jimenez had the answer with a layup.
- The Red and White used the next four minutes to go on a 10-2 romp thanks to contributions for Joey Dopirak, Matt Mahoney and Edmond making the score 45-37 home side with 10:44 gone.
- Swarthmore responded with an 11-4 run as Jimenez racked up five points during that stretch cutting the deficit to 49-48 with just under five minutes left.
- Cosby and Edmond charged back with six in a row extending the advantage back to 55-48 (2.22).
- Jimenez and Paquette pulled the scored to within 55-52, but Devils would collect their final nine points all at the foul line to finish off the 64-62 win.
