Gators Take a Bite Out of Devils in Non-Conference Action

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dickinson men's tennis team returned to team action on Friday afternoon welcoming the Gators of Allegheny College to the Hays Tennis Courts for a non-conference battle. Unfortunately, for the Red and White it would be the visitors that secured the 7-0 win to drop Dickinson to 1-2 on the campaign, while the Gators jumped to 5-0.

Doubles (Gators 3-0)
The match opened up with Olivier Erkens and David Rodriguez blanking Drew Allen and Sandro Buskhrikidze by a score of 6-0 at number two. Lucas Bogle and David Daraban became the first DC pair to claim a game dropping a 6-1 decision in the top spot to Levente Mihaly and Reid Stasolla. On the three line, Jack Weaver and Ryan Whiting grabbed two from the Adam Memije-Benedek Kaibas duo falling 6-2.

Singles (Gators 6-0)
Things started out with Memije posting a 6-3, 6-4 triumph against Daraban at the top flight. The next match to come to a head would be the third singles battle between Allen and Mihaly with the Gator winning by identical 6-3 margins. At four, Buskhrikidze slipped up in the first set 6-0 against Javier Bejarano, before forcing a second set tiebreaker at 6-6 which the visitor would win 7-5. The only match to require three sets was on the second line as Bogle and Rodriguez traded the first two frames 6-3, 6-7 (6-7) resulting in a super tiebreaker. That would be where AC continued their shutout as Rodriguez edged Bogle 11-9. Weaver was then toppled in the fifth flight 6-0, 6-0, while Ben Cioladis was bested 6-1, 6-0 at six to conclude the action.
