Devils Come Up Just Short of Knocking Off Division II Kutztown

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's tennis team gave it all they had on Saturday afternoon against Division II Kutztown University, but ultimately the Golden Bears escaped the Hays Tennis Courts with a 4-3 non-conference and non-divisional win.

Doubles (Bears win 2-1 | Doubles count as one point)
Dickinson fell behind to start as the second pair of Drew Allen and Sandro Buskhrikidze fell 6-3 to Terrell Arejola-Joaquin Perez. Kutztown then locked down the doubles point through a 6-4 win by Emmitt Robinson and Patrick Young over Jack Weaver-Ryan Whiting. The Red and White were not blanked however as Lucas Bogle and David Daraban defeated Dang Nguyen-Henrique Rocha 6-4.

Singles (Tied 3-3)
The visitors took the win at number four to begin singles as three games in Buskhrikidze was forced to retire against Young due to injury. Unfortunately, for the Devils, Kutztown secured the team win at slots five and six as both Weaver and Whiting were bested 6-1, 6-1 by Robinson and Hoareau Lebon respectively. Dickinson found great success at the top of the leader though with Bogle posting a convincing 6-3, 6-0 victory against Nguyen. Allen playing at three held off Perez in a competitive 7-5 first set, before finishing him off in a dominant 6-1 second. Daraban (2nd) was the final match of the day to conclude taking down Rocha in a pair of hard-fought sets going 7-5, 6-4.
