Devils Serve Clinic Leads to Conference Win Over Owls

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team got right back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they posted 14 aces en route to a 3-0 conference victory over the host Bryn Mawr College Owls inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. Libero Avery Butcher was a big reason for the Devils strong service game as she posted nine on the day.

Set One
  • Things were nip and tuck early as points for Emery Fishbach, Lora Flynn, Mallie Thomas, Eliette Whittaker and Butcher had the score locked at 5-5.
  • After each side recorded three straight to leave it 8-8, kills from Amelia Kim and Flynn helped DC go on a 6-1 push making the score 14-9.
  • However, the Owls rallied back with scores by Anna Dravk, Emma Loller and Joelle Wise bringing the score level 15-15.
  • Aces for Katie Arcara and Butcher along with kill from Jessica Currie and Thomas wrapped up the frame 25-18.
Set Two
  •  For the second consecutive set it went back-and-forth kills for Butcher, Kim and Thomas made it 6-6.
  • Five of the next six went the way of the Devils with contributions coming from Arcara, Currie and Kim (11-7).
  • The duo of Loller and Wise helped the Owls to get within one (12-11), but four Thomas kills coupled with blocks by Caroline Cusson, Currie and Thomas blew the DC advantage out to 22-13.
  • Adelaide Grace, Elise Perry and Loller kept the home side fighting at 24-16, before Camille Dofiles setup Currie for the final kill (25-16).
Set Three
  • A kill by Wise gave the Owls a slim 3-2 edge to start, but a trio of Butcher aces and a Currie kill had the Red and White doubling the hosts up 8-4.
  • Dickinson continued to hold BMC at bay with scores for Kim and Thomas making it 13-9.
  • After the sides traded the ensuing four points, three more Butcher aces along with kills by Currie and Thomas opened up a 21-11 advantage.
