HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team took another big step in their push towards a Centennial Conference tournament berth on Saturday afternoon by notching a hard-fought five set win over the host Haverford College, before being tripped up 3-0 by Kean University in a tri-match inside of Gooding Arena.
Match One - DEVILS 3, Fords 2 (13-25, 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12)
Set One
- Early scores for Katie Arcara and Caroline Cusson had DC ahead 3-1, but the hosts came rampaging back with a 10-2 charge making it 11-5.
- Four home miscues and a solo block for Amelia Kim brought the gap to three (13-10).
- A kill by Maggie Turner then sent the Fords on a commanding 12-3 run to take the set ending on kill for Fiona Moord (25-13).
Set Two
- Three kills from Norah Oppenheim along with a block by Emery Fishbach gave the Devils an early 5-2 edge.
- Elizabeth Cella and Izabela Potocnjak cut the deficit to 7-6, before points by Jessica Currie, Mallie Thomas, Eliette Whittaker and Kim aided an 8-0 blitz pushing the lead to 15-6.
- After six of the next seven went to the home side, the duo of Fishbach and Thomas went to work combining for seven kills during a 9-3 close to the frame (25-15).
Set Three
- Cameryn DeBlecourt, Gia Frank, Maggie Turner and Cella got the hosts out to a hot start at 8-4.
- An ace by Lora Flynn coupled with kills by Currie and Whittaker brought the Red and White level 11-11.
- Another DC ace this time from Amanda Palo sparked a 7-3 charge making it 18-14 finishing on a kill for Kim.
- The teams traded the ensuing eight points to keep a 22-18 edge leaning on kills by Oppenheim and Thomas.
- A score for Cella stalled the push for a second, but kills put down by Kim and Whittaker capped off the 25-19 win.
Set Four
- Kills for Arcara, Currie, Fishbach, Kim and Oppenheim kept Dickinson around early on as Haverford jumped out to a 10-7 lead.
- The Devils continued their uphill battle with points by Fishbach, Kim and Oppenheim knocking the margin to just two (14-12).
- Haverford was able to maintain their distance however as kills by Eliana Brown, Cella, Frank and Turner left the score at 20-16.
- Solo kills from Fishbach, Oppenheim and Thomas made it 24-20, but Frank set down the final kill of the set (25-20).
Set Five
- Both Currie and Whittaker recorded a kill within the first three points to give DC a 2-1 edge.
- However, Kayla Chu, Cella and Moord then joined together to tally five straight to jump ahead by a score of 6-2.
- An ace for Camille Dofiles along with kills from the group of Currie, Kim, Oppenheim and Thomas brought the Devils all the way back to 8-8.
- After the sides exchanged the next six points (11-11), kills for Kim and Thomas let the Red and White claim four of the ensuing five to end the match 15-12.

Set One
- Kean gained momentum early with a 4-1 lead, highlighted by two kills from Cayley Elena Morrison. Â
- Dickinson responded with a strong service run by Butcher, including three consecutive aces, to take a 7-5 advantage. Â
- Kean surged back with an 8-2 stretch, featuring two kills by Aubre Adams, to regain a 14-11 lead. Â
- Morrison secured the set for Kean at 25-15 with a decisive kill assisted by Aspen O'Brien. Â
Set Two Â
- Kean took an early lead, aided by consecutive attack errors from the Red Devils, moving the score to 4-1. Â
- Morrison delivered multiple kills for Kean, extending their advantage to 7-2. Â
- Dickinson responded midway through the set with a service ace by Thomas, to help narrow the gap to 9-6. Â
- Despite the best efforts of Butcher, Currie, Fishbach, Flynn, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker, Kean pulled away late, culminating the set with a kill by Victoria Latino, securing a 25-19 victory. Â
Set Three Â
- Dickinson started strong with Butcher serving an ace to open the scoring. Â
- Whittaker added to the lead with another ace, contributing to Devil's early advantage. Â
- Thomas kept Dickinson competitive with multiple kills, including a crucial one to maintain a lead of 18-12. Â
- However, the Cougars would keep battling and ultimately use a kill from Latino to end the match at 26-24.
