Three Different Players Score as #13 Devils Down Bullets in CC Action

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The 13th-ranked Dickinson field hockey team got tallies from Maggie Carson, Megan McClure and Gillian Rosenstock en route to a 3-1 road Centennial Conference win over the host Gettysburg College at Musselman Stadium on Wednesday night.

First Quarter
  • The first five minutes went by without either side tallying a shot until Nicole Uebele rolled one wide of Emilia Saccento's cage.
  • However, less than a minute later Dickinson grabbed the lead when Alex Hackett found McClure for the the strike.
  • In the 13th-minute the Devils extended the margin to 2-0 as Carson played a penalty corner into McClure who rolled the ball back to Carson who fired the shot beyond the reach of Saccento.
  • Gettysburg recorded their first shot of the game with 19-seconds left when Sofia Scalzo lifted the ball over the cage patrolled by Taylor Morrow.
Second Quarter
  • Just over a minute into the period a corner inserted by Eleanor Ragan eventually came to Sloane Witkowski who found Cianna Miranda for a rip past Morrow making it 2-1.
  • Two minutes later following another corner Cassie DeBlieck had a shot beaten aside by Morrow preventing the tie.
  • In the 21st-minute the Red and White were on the all-out attack earning three consecutive penalty corners resulting in opportunities for Alexandra Hockwitt and Rosenstock that were both stopped by Saccento.
  • Dickinson would ask two more questions of Saccento as she stopped Uebele in the 29th and Sophia Pereira during the 30th ending the half.
Third Quarter
  • The Bullets had all the pressure in the frame forcing Morrow into making three saves and holding a 3-1 shot advantage over the 15 minute segment.
Fourth Quarter
  • With four minutes gone, the Red Devils stretched the margin to 3-1 with Rosenstock inserting a corner and then cashing in off a dish from Uebele.
  • Each keeper would have to make one more save in the game with Saccento denying Alex Hackett, while Jillian Somers was shutdown by Morrow to close the game.
