CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team got a 30th-minute goal from
Norah Heacock to take a 1-0 lead and it would ultimately stand up as the match winner as the Red and White blanked the visiting McDaniel College by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Miller Memorial Field. On the day the Red Devils offense was on the attack early and often as they held a 15-5 advantage in shots (9-2 on target).
First Half
- The visitors posted the first shot of the match in the sixth-minute when Gabriella Piantadosi missed to the right of the net guarded by Pico Gray.
- The sides would continue to battle back and forth in the midfield with neither team really able to get into the opposing defensive half over the next 20 minutes.
- Dickinson's first shot of the match would be the one that mattered as Joelle Ma played a corner to the head of Lila Brown who knocked it down to Heacock who stashed it past Sierra Ruehl for the 1-0 lead with 29:30 gone.
- Over the next five minutes Ruehl had the answer for both Ava Prisco and Ma to keep things where they were.
- After Gray denied Carly Brock in the 36th, Ruehl preserved the 1-0 deficit heading into the break by stopping Mckenna Gross and Ellie Nordwind.
Second Half
- Prisco tried to extend the Devils advantage in minutes 47 and 55, but neither offering reached Ruehl.
- With a half-hour to play each keeper needed to be alert as Ruehl denied Catherine Fleck, while Gray put up a wall against Sidda Mitchell.
- Ruehl continued to be a thorn in the Devils side making stops versus Kaitlyn Arnold, Isabelle Bariso, Anna Bitsko and Maddie Kraft-Williams. However, at the other end Dickinson put up the "Great Wall of Devils" from the midfield line back as they did not concede a shot from the 61st minute on to close out the win.
