CARLISLE, Pa. – The 27th-ranked Dickinson men's squash team opened up their 2025-26 season on Friday night with a slim 5-4 win on the home court over the visiting and 23rd-ranked Chatham University Cougars on Day One of the Pennsylvania State Cup inside the Kline Squash Center.

Inside the Match
The Red and White opened up the evening in an early 3-0 hole as Elian Vera, Owen Buroker and Gerardo Ortiz dropped three game matches at the second, fourth and fifth flights respectively. Dickinson grabbed their first victory of the year in the sixth spot where Cormac Sullivan split the first two games with Brett Poles, before rallying in the third and fourth by scores of 11-8 and 11-2 to close within 3-1. The margin was then cut to one two slots lower with Derek Du taking down Obed Roman Garcia in four as he dropped the first prior to nabbing the next three. James Kiracofe playing at the number seven spot needed just under a half hour to defeat Keyel Beasley by a 3-0 scoreline and tie the match at 3-3. However, the Cougars clawed back ahead with Abdelrahman Sadek knocking off William Krizek in three. Joe Smythe playing like a number one should even things back up at 4-4 with an 11-4, 11-8, 12-10 victory over Sebastian Vaca Sanchez. The Red and White would then be credited the win by a score of 5-4 as the visitors were not able to field an opponent for the number nine spot opposite of George Vollmer.

Dickinson (1-0) returns to action tomorrow morning at 9am when they take on Drexel University at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster for the start of Day Two of the Pennsylvania State Cup. The Red and White will then conclude the day at 2pm with a conference matchup against Haverford College at Lancaster Country Day School.
