HARRISBURG, Pa. - Less than 24 hours after being tripped up by the 23rd-ranked Montclair State University, the Dickinson men's basketball team was back in action on Sunday afternoon taking on the University of Mount Union on day two of the Penn State-Harrisburg Tipoff Classic inside the Capital Union Building. Unfortunately for the Red and White they were unable to turnaround a 32-31 halftime deficit falling to the Purple Raiders by a score of 74-59.
First Half
- Things started well for Mount Union as they jumped out to an 8-3 edge four minutes in with Dane Moran and Jacob Pichay providing the points for DC.
- Buckets from Cole Cosby, Byrce Donovan and Joey Dopirak allowed the Devils to get their first lead of the day at 13-12 with 6:12 gone.
- After Shaun Vaden split two on the line, Chris Knight and Caleb Laurich contributed to the 8-4 push by the Raiders to jump back in front 21-17 at the 11:42 mark.
- Back-to-back triples out of the hands of Moran coupled with layups for Cosby and Dopirak gave the Devils a slim 27-25 advantage inside of five minutes left.
- Three balls for Dante Collier and Kevin Hamilton made it 32-29, but a tip-in by Juan Ruiz off his own miss set the 32-31 halftime margin.
Second Half
- Triples by Cosby and Pichay along with a foul shot by Moran brought DC level at 38-38 with over three minutes gone.
- The next five minutes saw the Raiders go on a 13-4 run to take a 51-42 advantage with Dickinson buckets coming from Ryan Leskauskas and Moran.
- Three consecutive points from Pichay thanks to a layup and free throw cut it down to 51-45, but a jump shot hit by Chance Casenhiser sparked a 10-2 sprint for Mount Union extending the margin to 61-47 with 7:44 left.
- Buckets for Dopirak and Pichay kept DC fighting, however they could do little to cut into the Mount advantage at 70-54 with a little under four minute remaining.
