Devils Claim Victory at PLEX Shootout

READING, Pa. - The Dickinson College men's track and field team won five events on the day, which included dominating the distance events to claim a team victory at the PLEX Shootout hosted by Alvernia University.

Sprints
The 60m saw Jason Hollinger post a time of 7.20 to take seventh. Matthew Greenley grabbed 41st with a 7.63, while Josh Penny hit the line in 8.27 for 56th. Penny then returned to the track for the 60m hurdles and took 16th thanks to an 11.89.

Four members of the Red and White competed in the 200m as Greenley was the highest finishing athlete in 41st (25.29), followed by Tim Gross (43rd - 25.36), Ben Dench (45th - 25.43) and Sean Harris (48th - 25.73).

Dickinson's first win of the day came during the 400m when Trevor Richwine crossed in 50.84. Two other teammates found themselves in the Top-20 as Matthew Gareau and Dench claimed 19th (56.01) and 20th (56.10). Harris and Gross also competed posting marks of 57.34 (24th) and 57.35 (25th).

Distance
The Red and White collected second and third for the 800m courtesy of James Masterson (1:59.92) and Nolan Meincke (2:00.28). The duo was joined in the Top-10 by Darian Crim in seventh at 2:01.63. Amos Liles earned a Top-20 result with a 2:06.06 (18th). Evan Feldman (23rd - 2:09.59), Jack Cruikshank (32nd - 2:12.20), Erdmann (33rd - 2:12.87), Max Collins (37th - 2:15.97), Travis Knaggs (40th - 2:18.24), Matthew Colden (43rd - 2:22.28) and Jack Solovey (46th - 2:28.01) all competed in the event as well.

Dickinson sent another large group out to the track for the mile race as Meincke won the event with a 4:23.38, followed right behind by Benjamin Moseman at 4:27.18. The duo of Knaggs and Cruikshank landed inside the Top-20 taking 14th (4:44.64) and 16th (4:46.98). Erdmann, Colden and Feldman secured slots 22 (4:50.66), 24 (4:51.44) and 29 (4:58.60). Solovey was the final member of the Red and White to compete claiming 38th (5:20.38).

The Devils distance dominance continued during the 3000m with Brock Overlander winning the race in 8:48.53, while Moseman (2nd - 8:54.10), Luke Knestout (4th - 8:55.99), Atticus Fair (5th - 8:56.66), Alexander Kane (6th - 8:57.06), Matthew Dietrick (7th - 8:57.90), Avi Ghorai (9th - 9:02.32) and Edward Liszka (10th - 9:07.97) all found spots inside the Top-10. Mason Macek just missed the Top-10 earning 11th at 9:10.49.

Overlander then repeated his performance in the 5000m by hitting the line in 15:21.89.

Relays
The Red and White claimed sixth during the 4x200m with the unit of Crim, Gormley, Hollinger and O'Connor posting a 1:35.39.

The team of Crim, Gormley, Masterson and Richwine would win the 4x400m with a 3:29.60, while Feldman, Gareau, Liles and Meincke nabbed eighth (3:40.15).

Field
Oliver Stroka finished off the podium for the weight throw with a toss of 14.58m.

Team Scores
The Devils won the meet with 108 points and were joined in the Top-10 by West Chester (70.5), Stevens (68), York Pa. (62), Elizabethtown (51), Gettysburg (49), Alvernia (30), Lancaster Bible (25), Muhlenberg (24) and Delaware Valley (22).

Special Note
Richwine was in Happy Valley on Friday night to compete in the 800m at the Penn State National Open. He would post the second best time from a non-division I athlete with a 1:50.86 which was good for 12th in a field of 53 athletes.

Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Saturday when they head to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete in the Blue and White Invite at Franklin & Marshall College starting at 10am.
